PROGRAMS
FUTURE JOURNALISTS OF AMERICA

The Future Journalists of America initiative embeds high school students in local newsrooms to create the next generation of Oregon’s local journalists.
This program trains youth in digital news publications strategies, successful journalism business models and the core skills of community reporting.

Students lend their own unique voices to civic dialogue in our state through their publication called The Obsidian.

The FORJournalism Resource Center is the innovative answer we need to the challenges facing today’s newsrooms.
FORJ is currently seeking funding for the FORJournalism Resource Center, which will connect vulnerable local publications with trainings, assessment and support, audience experts, technology, tools, grants and access to other philanthropic funding.
The Resource Center will also distribute short-term mini-grants and temporary staffing to support audience engagement and technology improvements that enable publications to revolutionize and modernize how they deliver the news.
JOURNALISM LAB

The Journalism Lab is a developing program that brings together reporters and editors to create high-quality news content accessible to small, rural publications.
