Since our founding in March 2021, FORJ has moved from concept to execution, with momentum behind us to scale for impact.

We have raised and deployed more than half a million dollars to strengthen rural newsrooms and have been recognized as the Oregon State Society’s 2024 Nonprofit of the Year.

We have trained more than 70 high school students through paid internships, partnered with Central Oregon Community College to launch Oregon’s first community‑college‑based journalism certificate, and supported rural publishers through coaching, digital modernization, and sustainability planning.

Our Homelessness: Real Stories, Real Solutions collaborative reporting lab has produced more than 20 in‑depth, multimedia regional journalism packages distributed across many journalism outlets and nonprofit partners.

Our annual Oregon Rural Journalism Conference has become the state’s primary convening for independent news organizations.
